Abstract

Abstract. This article analyzes the legal mechanisms available to victims of domestic abuse for exercising and protecting their family rights, including divorce proceedings, determination of child residence and visitation rights, child support (alimony), division of marital property, housing rights, and compensation for damages. The study provides a comparative analysis of the Family Code, the Civil Code, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Protection of Women from Harassment and Violence," and the explanatory rulings of the Supreme Court Plenum. The author establishes that there is an insufficient systemic connection between the mechanism of protection orders and family law court proceedings, that the concepts of "domestic abuse" and "victim" are not clearly defined within family legislation, and that the Supreme Court Plenum ruling guiding judicial practice has not been adequately adapted to recent legal reforms. Based on these findings, concrete proposals are formulated to improve legislation and judicial practice.
