Abstract

This study describes the preparation and spectral characterization of supramolecular complexes of zeatin with glycyrrhizic acid monoammonium salt (MASGA). The complexes were obtained by a liquid-phase method in MASGA:zeatin molar ratios of 2:1, 4:1 and 8:1. The obtained samples were characterized by ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) spectroscopy. The yields of the complexes were 89%, 90% and 93%, respectively, and the highest yield was observed for the 8:1 system. The UV spectra showed absorption maxima in the 261.4-264.0 nm region, while the IR spectra revealed changes in the absorption bands of OH, NH, C=O, C=C/C=N and C-O-C groups. These spectral changes indicate the formation of supramolecular systems stabilized mainly by hydrogen bonding, ion-dipole interactions and hydrophobic interactions. The results suggest that MASGA can be considered a promising supramolecular carrier for zeatin.
