Abstract

This article analyzes the scientific and legal approaches to understanding the essence of intellectual property, its content and legal nature. The main doctrinal positions regarding the concept of intellectual property are examined comparatively, including the property (ownership) concept and the concept of absolute (exclusive) rights. The article also explores the place of intellectual activity results within the system of civil law objects, their distinguishing characteristics from tangible objects, and the mechanisms of legal protection. The economic, legal, and social significance of intellectual property law, as well as its role in modern market relations, are substantiated. The research findings are intended to serve the further improvement of the intellectual property institution and the development of its legal regulatory mechanisms.
