THE REFLECTION OF CULTURAL CHARACTERISTICS IN COLOR-BASED PROVERBS: A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES

Abstract
This article examines the reflection of cultural characteristics through color-based proverbs in English and Uzbek languages. By conducting a comparative linguistic and cultural analysis, the research highlights how colors in proverbs symbolize moral, social, and cultural values. The study identifies shared and divergent meanings associated with color terms in both languages, revealing how English proverbs often display flexible and context-driven color symbolism, while Uzbek proverbs maintain more fixed and culturally regulated associations. The findings offer insights into the role of color in shaping cultural perceptions, contributing to the understanding of how metaphorical language influences intercultural communication and societal norms.
