Abstract
This article is devoted to summarizing the achievements of pragmalinguistics, which is a relatively new branch of linguistics, and to the scientific analysis of theoretical views about its prospects. The article examines the initial experiments, which gathered a wide range of scientific materials on the essence and practical importance of ethnopragmatics, sociopragmatics, comparative pragmatics and other scientific directions, which are the "descendants" of pragmalinguistics.
