Abstract

Abstract: This paper presents a mathematical modeling study of a biogas reactor under conditions with and without a separator. The modeling is based on the kinetics of anaerobic digestion, and microbial growth is described using the Monod equation. The effect of the separator is taken into account through increased gas separation efficiency and reduced gas retention time.
As a result, the daily variation of biogas yield and methane fraction is analyzed. The main objective of the study is to determine the influence of separator parameters on biogas production and methane content, to develop a mathematical model, and to solve it numerically. The obtained results can be applied in the design and optimization of biogas systems.
