PAREMIOLOGICAL REPRESENTATION OF LINGUOCULTUREMES OF NEGATIVE BEHAVIOUR IN UZBEK PROVERBS

Abstract

The article examines the linguistic and cultural representation of negative behaviour in Uzbek proverbs on the basis of linguoculturological and frame analysis. The linguoculturemes “idler”, “arrogant”, “ignorant”, “coward”, “greedy”, “traitor” and “ill-mannered” are described using a seven-slot paremic frame model, and their cultural codes (religious-moral, zoonymic, object code, vertical metaphor) and markers of negative evaluation are identified. It is shown that negative behaviour in proverbs is almost always contrasted with the positive pole, that condemnation is often expressed through euphemistic and indirect means, and that negative linguoculturemes confirm the hierarchy of values “in reverse”.
